Believe it or not the best lift for your traps is not a barbell shrug. It's not a dumbbell shrug either. Deadlifts are by far the best lift for building your traps up. There's not much a 225 lb. shrug can do that a 405 lb. deadlift can't do. Get you deadlift up to 400-500 lbs. and then see if you need to do shrugs.
